Code of Professional Conduct

Committee

The purpose of this document is to set out the standards of behaviour expected of Committee Members (including office bearers).

In agreeing to be part of the Committee, each member must also agree to adhere to these codes at all times.

Committee members (including office bearers) should also abide by the Association Members Code of Conduct.Committee Members must:

  • Be diligent in their role
  • Attend Committee meetings or forward their apology prior to the meeting
  • Treat all people associated with the Association, including members, volunteers, partners, external stakeholders, and other Committee Members with respect
  • Attend to their fiduciary responsibility and make decisions based on what is best for the Association, not for individual interest or gain
  • Not take advantage of their position on the Committee in any way
  • Declare any Conflicts of Interest as they arrive and act to ensure that these conflicts do not pose a risk to the organisation
  • Be open to feedback from members and respond appropriately
  • Be honest at all times
  • Act as a positive role model with respect to professional behaviour
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures established by the Association
  • Adhere to the legislative requirements of the Association
  • Respect the equipment and resources of the Association and only use these in Association related business
  • Not receive gifts that result in personal financial benefit
  • Always look for opportunities for improved performance of the Association operations and Committee functions
  • Always represent the Association in a professional manner
  • Not speak to the media about any aspect of the Association that could damage the Association or its reputation

 

Members 

The purpose of this document is to set out the standards of behaviour expected of Association Members at meetings or other events held, organised, or associated with the Association of Consulting Structural Engineers Victoria.

In agreeing to be part of the Association, each member must also agree to adhere to these codes at all times.

ACSEV Members must:

  • Treat all people associated with the Association, including members, volunteers, partners, external stakeholders, speakers and presenters, and Committee Members with respect
  • Declare any Conflicts of Interest as they arrive and act to ensure that these conflicts do not pose a risk to the organisation
  • Be open to feedback from other members and respond appropriately
  • Be honest at all times
  • Act as a positive role model with respect to professional behaviour at events
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures established by the Association (Committee and Constitution)
  • Adhere to the constitution of the Association and to not act against the interests of the Association (especially the objects of the Association):
    • The Objects of the Association:
      • To provide a forum for peer support and communication within the profession;
      • To provide continuing professional development to the members of the Association; and
      • To make submissions on matters that affect the profession.
